44 Chefs Make It To Semi-Finals Of Chef Of The Year 2013

One the 15th of May the craft guild of chefs revealed that 44 chefs had made it into the semi-final of the prestigious chef of the year 2013 competition. Typically there has only ever been 40 chefs chosen for the semi-finals but this year 4 additional chefs were added to the list because of the high standards witnessed by the judges.

The chefs that made it are from all areas of hospitality including: fine dining restaurants, hotels, bars and pubs. For the next heats the chefs will be split into 4 groups in both London and Sheffield. The chefs will then be required to re-create the menu outlines that were used on their entry forms within a 2 hour window. Judges will be looking for a well-balanced, exciting and tasty menu that shows the chef has a thorough understanding of tastes and the ingredients they’ve used.

Only 8 of the semi-finalists will get to take part in the final which will take place in London on the 8th of October. From their one chef that stands out from the crowd will be chosen as the competition winner and join the likes of: Gordon Ramsay, Simon Hulston, Mark Sargeant, Frederick Forster and Alyn Williams.
