Take a look at the brief but effective advice for helping you ace your chef recruitment agency.

Doing a cooking demonstration is likely to be top on the agenda. You might have been asked to prepare a meal in advance that you would like to cook for them, however, you might also be tested and given some ingredients to work with. Make sure you are confident and prepared for this, keep calm and remember your basic cooking skills. Not only will your potential employee be looking to taste the quality of your food but also your ability to work under pressure and in a new environment. Now, I guess if you are applying for a chef job you will be expecting this anyway, so you might be wondering why we are stating the obvious, what you might not be prepared for are a series of questions that you could also be asked as part of your interview process.

For example:

What are your strengths and weaknesses? – This is your opportunity to sell yourself! Make sure you highlight your positives and demonstrate how you put these skills in place. Talking about your risks can always be a dangerous game, think carefully about this, perhaps talk how you are always willing to learn new skills and improve any weaknesses that you have.

Why do you want to work here? – Show that you have researched into the business and explain how you think that you might fit in there. This is always a great way to impress your prospective employer.

What experience do you have? – Again use this as an opportunity to demonstrate your strengths. Talk about all of the different opportunities you have been involved in, how these have helped your chef skills and so on. Talking about experience with handling pressure, working in a team etc. is always a great start.

We hope this helps!
