For the first time, cookery will be a compulsory part of school lessons, starting from as young as eight years and continuing with some sophistication in to secondary school.
From September next year the lessons will be brought in, starting with basics at Primary school and lessons on how to create simple, healthy meals.
Health experts are welcoming the change, which can hopefully start tackling obesity and diet-related illnesses by using prevention rather than cure.
Great to see this happening – establishing the basics in primary school age kids is sure to lead to a better understand of what they’re eating in the long term, and might lead to better food-educated parents too!
