How to secure a chef promotion!

Making your way up the food chain in the kitchen is not always an easy task. Having said that many people first enter the world of hospitality as a Chef de Partie progressing to Sous Chef and ultimately Head Chef.

Take a look at some of these top tips to help you secure your new role as a Sous Chef:

Make sure you are experienced in every role in the kitchen. By doing the jobs yourself you will have the best understanding of what should be done in what chef role, allowing you to be a top supervisor.

Make sure that you are always developing your knowledge in the kitchen. If you are looking for that promotion, why not demonstrate you keenness by showing that you are always learning and gaining new experience? Why not book onto a cooking class to learn some new skills that you can show off at work?

Show how willing you are to work well with the team and help everyone out. You might want to offer help to some of the chefs at a lower level than you. Demonstrate that you are keen to help the business operate efficiently and if this means relieving someone of their role of ordering the ingredients for the week ahead then do it!
