10 Basic Food And Hygiene Safety Tips

  • Make sure all jewellery is removed and wear a hair net (especially if you have long hair)
  • Mop up and clean any spillages immediately
  • Thoroughly wash your hands
  • Ensure food is stored correctly to prevent bacteria growth, this will often require temperature control
  • Raw food / meat should always be kept at the bottom of the fridge
  • Disinfect all surfaces before use
  • Ensure kitchen is clean before you leave
  • Make sure waste bins are regularly emptied
  • Regularly replace sponges
  • Prevent cross contamination – Use separate chopping boards for poultry, fish, red meat and vegetables
