Master of Culinary Arts 2013 Finalists Announced

The Master of Culinary Arts competition which is otherwise known as the MCA is a four yearly award run by the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts since 1987. It was original based on the French Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF). Its aim is to find the UK’s top Chefs, Pastry Chefs and restaurant managers. Winners carry the title for life and it’s considered the ultimate triumph in the cooking, pasty and food industry.

17 Finalist were finally chosen following tough semi-finals that took place over the last 2 months. In the running for the converted crown are sous and senior sous chefs, senior chef de parties, head chefs, chef patrons, chef proprietors, patissier chocolatiers, executive and senior sous pastry chefs. These have been split in to 3 categories that contain 8 chefs, 3 pastry chefs and 6 management & service individuals.

Each group will see their finals take place on different days. The Management finals will take place on Saturday the 21st of September at Le Gavroche. The Pastry Chef finals will take place on the 28th of September at Westminster Kingsways College and finally the Chefs finals will be on the 12th of October at Birminghams University College for Chefs.

All 3 winners will be announced at a presentation dinner at Claridges on the 31st of October. Good luck to all the finalists!
