The first round of the Cumbria ‘Leading Individual Hotels of Cumbria Young Chef Competition 2013’ saw eight 15-year-old budding chefs competing to create delicious and creative meals that fed two and cost less than £10.
Judges were very impressed by the standard of cooking, and the winners will proceed to professional kitchens to produce a meal for family and friends in November, with the competition culminating in the final in December.
The competition is sponsored by a number of local hospitality businesses and hopes to bring enthusiasm for cuisine to young people in the area as well as an injection of activity to the tourism trade.
