Being A Sous Chef, do you have what it takes?

Is 2018 the year you have been waiting for? Are you looking to progress in the catering world? Applying for a role as a Sous Chef provides you with an opportunity to work very closely with and under the management of the Head Chef, after all that’s where many of you aspiring chefs want to be right?

As a Sous Chef you are pretty much second in command and will have to be able to turn your hand to any role in the kitchen. You will make sure that the kitchen runs smoothly, that food is properly prepared, that food safety standards are in operation, along with managing kitchen staff, maintaining kitchen equipment, monitoring stock control and cooking up some delicious treats, all whilst reporting to the head chef.

As a Sous Chef there are certain skills and requirements that you will be expected to have;

Leadership Skills
Time Management
Creativity
Discipline
Hygiene and food safety Knowledge
