A Head Chef – Your Responsibilities

Being a head chef comes with a lot of responsibility. As a head chef you are often in charge of creating delicious recipes, running the kitchen and providing an overall quality experience for the paying customers as you have to take responsibility for every dish that is served.

As a head chef you will often possess the following characteristics:
Creative – Chefs have to think of delicious dishes that are going to sell
Motivational – Working under pressure can often cause tension and stress in the kitchen, the head chef will often motivate the kitchen staff to keep calm and to keep going
Organised – ordering the stock, keeping on top of kitchen standards, recruiting the staff, creating the menu are all tasks that fall under the role of the head chef
Disciplined – you will have to work to strict time constraints, likely work long hours and often under stressful circumstances
Managerial – as a head chef you will have to manage the rest of the kitchen staff, manage the rotas, ensure everyone has sufficient training, is trained to kitchen hygiene standards.
