Reducing Food Waste In The Kitchen

According to England.lovefoodhatewaste  a shocking 7 million tonnes of food is wasted in the UK each year.

In this blog entry we briefly highlight just 3 top tips that can help you reduce the amount of food wasted in your kitchen.

1. Make additional meals. For example veg cuts offs are perfect ingredients for soups. If you run a restaurant that serves roast dinners, think of recipe that uses up the left overs of these.

2. Offer small/medium/ large portions that way people can choose a sized meal more appropriate to them. This is a great way of avoiding the heaps of left-over food in restaurants.

3. Store your food properly. This can prolong the life of food and keep things fresh for longer. Why not keep things in an airtight container? If food is kept fresh for longer you will be able to use it a greater number of times and reduce the amount of waste that you are throwing out.

Of course, there are lots of tips to reduce food wastage but starting off with these three steps will be a good place to start.
