Social Media is a powerful marketing tool that can help drive your businesses success. Despite this many people are not taking hold of this fantastic opportunity and are still afraid / lacking in time to get stuck in to social media marketing.

In this short but useful blog entry, we introduce some great ideas for how you can use social media to market your restaurant or food business by showing you what type of content you can post on channels like Facebook and Twitter.

Images of any dishes that you are creating. This is a great way of attracting custom, if customers can see that you are producing high quality, interesting and appetising food they will be more likely to pay your restaurant a visit.

Updates Do you have a new menu? Have you updated your menu at all? Use social media to alert your customers of any changes/ tweaks that you might have made, this could be a fantastic new menu or even just an additional dish.

Special offers: Could you offer your social media followers/ friends a special discount. Provide them with a code or code word that they can use to receive a 10% discount when they come into your restaurant.

Competition – Why not stir up some online interest by getting your customers to actively engage with your business. You could run a Facebook competition that could be as simple as liking and sharing an image of a meal that you post. By liking and sharing this image customers will be entered into a prize draw. When your allocated competition time frame has come to an end you can randomly select a winner. This winner could win a trip to your restaurant to receive the meal advertised for themselves and one friend.

These are just a few very basic ideas of how you can advertise your restaurant on social media, there are of course plenty more means of increasing your brand awareness, engaging with your customers and ultimately driving your business success.
